"When I first knew that I was going to meet the Pope, I was speechless. I had always dreamed of being able to talk about schools and human rights with a person who had the power to change public opinion with his or her words alone, but I never imagined that person would be the Pope, and not now, for sure. Realizing that Pope Francis knows who we are and appreciates our work is priceless. It was a very emotional moment."

Nicolò Govoni, Executive Director of Still I Rise, commented on the meeting with Pope Francis that took place on Saturday, May 27, in the Rai studios of "A Sua Immagine" (In His Image) in Saxa Rubra, Rome. It was a historic day for world television: it had never before occured that a Pontiff went as a guest on a TV program. Nicolò Govoni spoke with the Pope about his story and the birth of Still I Rise, focusing on important issues such as the challenges facing youth and the importance of education.
