We are building together the first international school for refugee and forgotten children in Africa!
Kenya is one of the countries on the African continent that hosts the highest number of refugees, almost 500,000. Of these, 260,000 are children. And even among the Kenyan population, over 6 million minors live in poverty. In a country plagued by inequality, the main need is equal opportunity.
We are here to transform broken dreams into a just future.This is why we are opening the first international school for forgotten children in Africa. We have strong partners by our side and we have thoroughly studied the territory, the context, and its needs.
We moved then onto the operational phase and we are now working hard to inaugurate the school. All this was possible thanks to the support of our donors who decided to build this school together with us. The 50.000€ goal has been reached: if you can, donate now with a monthly donation to help us open the school offering to our students the best resources and the highest quality in education.
The school is located on the edge of the Mathare slum. At this location, we will be able to welcome boys and girls from 10 different nationalities as well as disadvantaged Kenyan students. The building has to be completely renovated. It is a 1,200 square-meters space, with 24 rooms, bright balconies and a very large garden surrounding it.
THE SCHOOL TOMORROW
We will renovate the ground floor and the first floor as well as the whole green area. We will remodel the spaces to create common areas, the library, and classrooms for specific courses: IT, science, arts. We are overseeing the selection of every material to create an “educating space”, which is central to our educational method.
WHERE WE ARE
PHASE 1: RENOVATION WORKS
We are renovating the building with the support of a local construction company.We are transforming this building into our international school a space that promotes a love of learning following our educational methods.
We are now focusing on:
INTERNAL AREAS:
the tiling with ceramic tiles and laminates of more than 950sqm
Internal wall painting 1800sqm
external wall painting 1000sqm
the installation of a new electrical and plumbing systems
the installation of more than 80 led lighting spots
the instlallation of 20 toilets
the demolition and reconstruction of 175sqm of walls, 15sqm of them are glass
painting and fixing all windows
the installation of 20 new doors
painting 150 metres of railings
the refurbishing of the entrance porch and of the 90 metres garden stone wall
EXTERNAL AREAS:
plowing of the entire garden, planting the trees and the grass
building 430sqm of entrance street and ramp, including 4 parking slots, a roundabout and a fountain made of local stones
fencing the entire property and installing a new independent entrance gate

Thanks to the generosity of many people we have collected the 50.000€ that we need to open our school in Nairobi:
€30,000: rent the building, prepare the legal and safety blueprints, and allows us to renovate it according to our Educational Method as well as the requirements of the Ministry of Education of Kenya.
€10,000 purchase school furniture such as desks, whiteboards, tech items, library, kitchen, fitness tools and sofas for the common hall. These items will help us turn the school into a child’s second home.
€10,000 for the legal, notary fees and the administrative registration of the school. Our top priority is to guarantee the long term safety and sustainability of the school.
